ACCES TO THE LUNCH BUFFET, JULY 16th
INTERNATIONAL TEAMS: the buffet is included in the event registration fee.
LOCAL TEAMS: Buffet cost is 15 euro. This fee also allows access to the buffet, to the pool and to the gym. Upon payment, each participant will receive a bracelet and take advantage of the above-mentioned services. Dinners will be borne by participants who are free to dine at the Mancini Park Hotel (with a fixed menu reserved for Alitalia WAFC 2016) or in any other restaurant of their choice.

TELETHON FOUNDATION
The Telethon Foundation is a non-profit organization recognized by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) which supports the research on rare genetic diseases. Because of their rarity, these diseases, in most cases, have no cure or therapy and are often neglected by public and private funding. Founded in 1990 by a group of patients with muscular dystrophy, its mission is to find a cure for rare genetic diseases through a scientific research of excellence, selected according to the best practices recognized at the international level. Thanks to a unique approach in Italy, Telethon follows the entire “research chain” from the fundraising, the selection and financing of projects through annual announcements and activities carried out in the same research centers and laboratories belonging to the Foundation (Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine, TIGEM; the San Raffaele – Telethon Institute for gene therapy, TIGET; Dulbecco Telethon Institute, DTI).
Telethon is mainly involved in:

the collection of funds and their allocation to research projects evaluated and approved by an independent and international medical-scientific Committee made up of more than 30 members; 

the management of internal scientific and applied research institutes (Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine, TIGEM; the San Raffaele – Telethon Institute for gene therapy, TIGET; Dulbecco Telethon Institute, DTI);

the direct management of research funds entrusted to external bodies (universities, health research institutes, hospitals and other research institutes). In this case, the scientists entrusts the Foundation with the award of scholarships and the purchase of the products and services necessary to their research projects;

the translation of research results into therapies available to patients.

The figures of Telethon Research
Since its foundation, Telethon has invested over 450 million Euros in research, has funded more than 2,500 projects with more than 1,500 researchers involved and more than 470 studied diseases. Currently 432 Italian laboratories, belonging to 94 different research institutions in more than 60 Italian cities, are engaged in the 350 Telethon-funded projects. To date, Telethon researchers have published more than 10,000 articles in international scientific magazines.

Fundraising
The Telethon fundraising takes place in two forms: besides the traditional channels such as 5X1000 and the spontaneous donations, there are also sponsorship agreements with companies and the creation of ad hoc events. The main fundraising event is the traditional telethon marathon organized in collaboration with RAI, held every year in December since 1990.The Foundation has also a network of hundreds of volunteers located throughout the Italian territory. Telethon directs the 75% of the collected funds from donations and the support of the partners to the funding of the research. This percentage is aligned with the criteria of the Charity Navigator, recognized at an international level, an organization that in the United States evaluates non-profit organizations. 

THE JEWEL OF THE HEART
During the Alitalia World Aviation Football Cup 2016, participants will be able to purchase a bracelet designed and produced by DiamonDiamonD. The company wanted to create a special edition bracelet to champion the cause of Telethon Foundation and get donations for the Alitalia charity event. The Heart Shaped Pendant Bracelet is a symbol of generosity that helps to remind us of the importance of supporting basic science research in order to develop the right treatments for rare genetic diseases. The bracelets are available in two versions: black and red. The special edition bracelet pack includes the Telethon logo, which is a solid proof of the value of the partnership between DiamonDiamonD and the Foundation.

DiamonDiamonD
The DiamonDiamonD was created to provide a professional service in the diamond world. The company provides clients with a highly skilled and dedicated professional team specialized in the diamond industry.  

CUORI DI BISCOTTO TELETHON
In Telethon Foundation stand, it will also be possible to buy the fundraising product "Cuori di biscotto". The shortbread of the traditional cookies "Canestrelli" will be modelled and baked in heart-shaped moulds exclusively for Telethon Foundation. "I support the scientific research with all my heart" is the sentence printed on the packaging. This quote reminds us of the importance of generosity and the desire to donate in order to support scientific research for the treatment of rare genetic diseases. Moreover it's important to help patients overcome challenges and trust in medical researches. "Cuori di biscotto" are elegantly packed in silver tin boxes illustrated by Annalisa Beghelli.

In order to raise money for the event, ASD Alitalia Football has also signed an agreement with Charity Stars, an online auction site, which usually auctions relics, clothes, and various items belonging to stars and celebrities around the world. A specific web page will be created for the Alitalia World Aviation Football Cup 2016 event with some T-shirts and items linked to the world of sport. You can participate in online auctions to help raise money and achieve the goal of solidarity. We will communicate all details shortly.

Charity Stars
A short while back, we were shocked when reading in the newspaper that somebody donated a staggering $1,000,000 to have lunch with the financial guru Warren Buffet. Since the money went to charity, we immediately thought this was a great idea to help charities raise funds in a new and funny way. Ferrarelle The historical Made in Italy brand will be the technical sponsor of event through the supply of mineral water bottles for all participants. Ferrarelle is one of the most important Italian companies operating since 1893. 

Natura Nuova will be the technical sponsor of the event. Natura Nuova Srl is a Romagna company from Bagnacavallo in the province of Ravenna, founded with the aim of promoting locally grown fruit and creating a natural fruit-based product, ready to eat and processed with innovative technology which guarantees maximum food safety, respect of the product and the environment. The company will offer a special snack box to all participants with products made of organic fruit. 

Gems, a leading Company of the Sportswear industry, will be the sponsor of Alitalia World Aviation Football Cup 2016 by donating T-shirts and sweatshirts. These items will be sold the days of the event in order to raise money for Telethon Foundation

Fisiogissi The Physiotherapy Centre Fisiogissi will be the partner of Alitalia World Aviation Football Cup. Qualified medical personnel will be made available for athletes during the matches. 

Associazione Romana Arbitri The A.R.A (Roman Referees Association) referees will direct the Alitalia WAFC 2016 official matches thanks to an agreement between the Roman Referees Association and ASD Alitalia Calcio. The Roman Referees Association provides training, technical management and disciplinary control of Roman amateur soccer referees. The Roman Referees Association was founded in 2005 and is affiliated with AICS (Italian Culture and Sport Association), National Agency for the Promotion of Sports and Culture. This association is responsible for the management of soccer referees. 

Associazione Fungo Porcino Lariano The association promotes the protection and the preservation of the environment and the natural, cultural, historical and wine&food resources of the city of Lariano, a lovely town near Rome. During the event, it's possible to taste typical products from Lariano to discover and know the different flavours of local food traditions.
